A Brief Glimpse

A Brief Glimpse

I put down the spent match. The feint flicker of light on the end of the hemp wick in my hands is within moments a steady glow. I hold the flame over the bowl, a repurposed ratchet socket outfitted with a screen, full of freshly crumbled herb. A thick mass of white smoke, like the fluffiest clouds, is drawn into the bottle as I pull the bowl, and with it the empty Gatorade bottle out of the bucket of water. Removing my thumb from the hole in the side, I lean forward, seal my lips around it, and inhale. My lungs are filled with the sweet leaf's vapors, until they begin to expand, forcing their way into my bloodstream. Hold it, two, three, let it out, slowww. A mighty coughing fit rocks my body. My cat opens her eyes to give me an exasperated look, then rolls over to resume napping. I sit back and melt into the couch. Once again, my mind is at its comfortable baseline.
I sit in quiet contemplation for a while. As I do, I'm aware of the passing of time. I watch the second hand click by on the clock. After what seems like an instant and an eternity, I get up, to heed the call of the mundane world. The bike ride to the store for groceries is invigorating and I can't help but smile, but the influence of mainstream society's overflowing bullshit manages to make its presence known. Splashes of capitalism, racism, consumerism, sexism, materialism, post modernism, affront my senses, the assortment of isms widening the schism between the way of life I could no longer stand and myself.
Cat food, milk, eggs, matches. With my supplies procured, I make my way home. I stop at a red light and watch a few cars go past. A moment later, the traffic light turns blue. I pedal on. As I pass by the park near my house, I notice a giraffe standing calmly near some trees, eating leaves from the tops of trees. It is engulfed in bright orange flames that make a low crackling noise. It turns its head atop it's long neck and watches me as I go by, perfectly serene.
Back at my house, I pack two of the six chambers of my pipe with more Master Kush. The dank, piney aroma fills the room, and I watch the tendrils of smoke rise from the cherried bowl, writhing and twisting, until I exhale a stream of smoke, causing it all to disperse and thicken the foggy haze in the air. My mind is elevated, deepening my spiritual connection with the world around me. The familiar sensation of reverberation spreads throughout my body, connecting me to the divine vibration of the universe.
Sitting cross-legged on the floor, I feel my consciousness awaken at the base of my spine and climb it, like fluid electricity trickling upwards. The top of my head, my crown chakra, is set ablaze with golden energy as I meditate deeply. I feel a low rumble as of thunder begin to emanate from within me, swelling in intensity like an ocean wave, until with a massive BOOM and a sharp CRACK, a bolt of lightning erupts from the top of my head, illuminating everything. Following the lightning, an immense cobra slithers quickly out of my skull straight upwards, turning in the air as if not bound by the law of gravity, until its entire length is hovering and slowly moving in the air in front of me, as if underwater.
The snake stares at me, its eyes seeing straight into my soul. I blink, and in that instant the snake before me is a woman, beautiful and mysterious. Her skin is pale, like moonlight on ivory, but not lacking in warmth, and her rich, black hair is pulled into an elaborate bun. She is dressed in exotic garb; a tight top that leaves her midriff bare, a silk scarf draped over her shoulders, and loose fitting pants, reminiscent of the Far East. She is adorned with many pieces of intricate jewelry. Upon her brow is a tilaka, the sacred symbol of the third eye. The woman stands barefoot, on one leg, her right leg raised and bent out to her side, the sole of her foot facing the ground. In her left hand she holds a lotus blossom in front of her, and her right arm is out to her side and bent upwards, her hand in an esoteric pose beside her head. The woman looks at me intently with her dark, slanted eyes. Leaving the lotus floating at waist level, she brings her palms together, fingers pointing to the sky, lowers her leg, and bows. "I am the Goddess Kundalini, the Serpent Fire, the Vital Winds. You have awakened me and given me form. The Ganja has smiled upon thee, blessing you with Enlightenment." As she spoke, the room faded from view. We were now standing on a white sandy beach on a small, tropical island, surrounded by an ocean and unbroken horizon. However, instead of the sky above us, we were surrounded by the inky blackness of space, full of the twinkling stars and other heavenly bodies. I become aware of a noise, Aum, the primordial sound of the universe, like an eternal chanting, emanating from everywhere at once, and yet from no discernible source.
"Be at peace," Kundalini said. She bowed again and turned back into the snake, then she slithered into the air, erupt into flame and in a burst of speed traced the symbol for infinity, then vanished. Alone on the cosmic beach, I'm free to contemplate everything.

Inbetween

We stand poised between two different levels of being.
One one hand, the cosmic infinity of the heavens
The other, the microscopic vastness of the atom.
As above, so below.
As the celestial bodies are positioned unfathomably far apart,
so are the building blocks of all matter.
We who gaze upon these two worlds,
Witness completely different planes of existence.
For who, then, are protons and electrons massive, unreachable objects,
And for who are the stars and planets mere specks, smaller than nothing?

Sacramental Annointing Oil recipe

A useful recipe I found

Cannabis Anointing Oil

Ingredients
4 ounces premium cannabis buds, cleaned and finely ground, set in water for 24 hours
1 liter organic extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons of myrrh essential oil
1 teaspoon of cinnamon essential oil
2 teaspoons of cassia essential oil

Directions
Pour the olive oil into a large cooking pot and add the ground cannabis. Cook the oil for one hour at 300 degrees (use a candy thermometer for quick temperature reading). This extracts the active ingredients from the cannabis into the oil. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool. Strain the oil/herb mixture thru a cheese cloth and after squeezing out as much oil as possible, set aside the solids (they can be used as flavoring in cooking if so desired). Add the myrrh, cinnamon and cassia oil, stir and bottle. Store the anointing oil in the refrigerator in a dark colored bottle. Decant into smaller jars for use.

Travelers

So many soft black clouds gather in the sky
In a rumble they shatter and burst, with one final sigh
Shards of electric acid rain down like glitter from on high
Upon the ground a river forms, flowing like liquid diamond
It moves and runs, ‘til it becomes a wolf pack on the run
All across the land we roam, our journey just begun
We spread out our wings and soar, into the great unknown
Traveling the cosmos, on a voyage all our own
We live a life of wanderlust; we do not need a home
We’ll travel near and far
In search of who we are
Forever free among the stars

No one knows

I fought hard to sell my soul to the devil,
About to get lifted to a whole 'nother level.
Drifting through the stars in the black night sky,
The sinner is the saint and no one knows why.

Just Another Day*

"Take two and call me in the morning"
I think to myself
They dissolve on my tongue in tangy-minty freshness
Patience is a virtue but one I don't have
Finally
While I'm on the dark side of the moon
Sounds become rivers of color and light
My field of vision expands until I am perceiving everything at once
My mass transfers from my body to my manhood
leaving me as a large phallis and nothing more
I sprout wings and take flight
Through the collective stream of consciousness of the universe
The journey is long and mind-expanding
Squirming laserbeams of sound wail and writhe
In the ecstasy of the soul flowing through them
In an infinite amount of time that's over instantly
I'm back in my body
At school
Wandering the halls
Bell rings change class
My brain tingles and dissolves into spiders
That tumble and crawl out of my ears
And down onto my shoulders and chest
Where they form one big seductive lady spider
Who climbs atop my face and gives me
The sweetest kiss
In homeroom Coach Bradley is being a
Grumpy old man
Like usual
Then eddies and whirls of space float down from the ceiling
Like gentle bits of dust
Distorting reality into little swirls
Like looking through smoke or heat
I admire them until they fade away
Mrs. Shaver blah blah blah
An obese girl's pink sweater starts to leak color everywhere
The pink seeps out like ink in water and stains everything
Tinting it like I'm looking through rose colored shades
I blink repeatedly like a cartoon cliche
And it's gone but the feeling is not
I went all the way through the rabbit hole for the first time
And life couldn't be better

*True story, by the way

Peace

My mind is tuned in to the oneness of the universe,
Vibrating at the same frequency of the collective consciousness,
Rippling with the primordial sound.
The immense waves of cosmic power rise and fall in a steady rhythm
Pounding against me in soothing reassurance
Like ocean waves in the deepest of seas
I am ablaze with the sacred fire
Imbued with the energy of the entirety of existence.
I am at peace.

The Boundary Waters

In the land of the North
The spirit of the earth is free
It roams and soars
Tamed by nothing
It's magic is pure
Like the water of the lakes
Mirror smooth and silver
Calm
Serene
Here
The earth is the church
Wonder in the world is faith
And life in all it's forms is sacred

The Sun and The Moon

The sun and the moon always fight for attention,
Always lookin' out for a new invention.
With every passing day comes the same revelation:
They're each responsible for their own salvation.

The Great Dragon

Deep in the abyss of my mind, the dark depths where no light reaches, something stirs, sending waves of impulses outwards, rippling through the water. A single pinprick of light appears and shines down from high above the inky blackness. It swells into a blazing sun, sending a column of light down, illuminating all. The water warms up, giving life. From the bottom of my mind where there used to be nothing but dark a raging fire is now growing, letting the Sacred Fire fill me. My eyes erupt in flame, shining light on what I once could not see. Now from the depths comes a great storm of electricity, bolts of lightning flying in every direction, finding their way into my blood and shooting off at lightspeed. With a ferocious roar I become the Lion, my majestic wings spread out and I take flight, through space, through mind, through time. I can travel anywhere. Again the Light shines down, letting the celestial sound of the Universe, Aum, take hold of me. I am One with Everything. I am the Great Dragon. To me a millennium is but an instant and a million miles but a footstep. I am omnipotent; I am the universe.

The One True God

Somewhere out there the great cosmic entity that gave birth to all of existence is drifting through space, contemplating things beyond our comprehension. This being of unknown power is the sole reason that life is possible, indeed, that anything in the whole of the unknown reaches of reality exists. Being responsible for the very fabric of space and time, this entity cannot be expected to show concern for the troubles of our species. It is not concerned with our lives, our triumphs or failures, our actions or thoughts. This is not because it doesn’t care; it’s simply because it is too great to fathom what we could possibly be doing. For it to intervene in our lives would be like a person attempting to settle an argument between two microbes. An immense, intergalactic whale, oblivious to the myriad forms of life all around it, it continues doing what is has always done, what we can never know, what we can only imagine. Through all planes of existence, all dimensions, all forms of reality, it is the One True God, the Power that all other gods are representations of. As long as it dreams of all that is, shall all of it continue to exist.

The Most Glorious Gift

Shiva’s delight gives second sight
The Light of Jah leads to Shangri La
The Mother comes unto us all, but only the chosen heed the call

I am the Great Dragon, Keeper of the Sacred Flame
I have stars in my eyes and lightning in my veins
Let me free your mind
So that for once in your life you will not be blind

Chaos

I see giraffes burning, shining in the night.
The time is come, the war’s begun,
We won’t go without a fight.

Machine gun punch,
Atomic growl,
The Brainless on parade.
Peace out for lunch,
Guerrillas prowl,
What will end this charade?
